Fisker – will the brand be saved by a German company?

The American car company Fisker , originally founded by the Danish designer and entrepreneur Henrik Fisker , has been struggling with significant problems in recent years. The German company Fritz Nol AG has now entered the forefront of those interested in its purchase.

The Fisker car company managed to complete production of only one model – the Karma hybrid sedan. After that, problems began to fall on the manufacturer one after another. During Hurricane Sandy, a significant number of unsold and uninsured cars were destroyed, the battery supplier went bankrupt, the founder Henrik Fisker left, most of the employees were laid off, and the financial situation is also complicated. All this resulted in a situation where the car company has not produced a single example of the Karma model for over a year and is standing on the very edge of existence.

Those interested in the troubled car company include, among others, the true American petrolhead Bob Lutz , the Chinese BAIC or the founder Henrik Fisker himself. However, the German company Fritz Nol AG currently has the best chance, which offered 25 million dollars for the brand. The Germans have already sent the American government a draft plan to return the Fisker car company to a functioning manufacturer.

And what do Fritz Nol AG 's plans include? First of all , the repayment of a state loan in the amount of almost 200 million dollars, the transfer of production of the Karma model from Finland to the USA, finding a new battery supplier, the start of the production of 2,500 units of the Karma model per year and the subsequent introduction of the derived variants Surf and Sunset (station wagon and convertible). For financial reasons, the plans do not include the production form of the cheaper Atlantic model.

We don't know if the sale of Fisker to Fritz Nol AG will go through in the end, but we hope that the brand will get going again as soon as possible. It would be a shame for her to disappear from the face of the earth. And a small request at the end – if someone buys Fisker , bring the founder Henrik back into its management. It wouldn't be the same without him!
