First win and a seized engine

Two vehicles of the KM Racing stable were presented last weekend in Hungary as part of the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup. While the new Liaz 111.154 truck crew consisting of Martin Macík jr., Marian Orlický and Michal Mrkva won a valuable victory at the Hungarian Baja in their second start, the racing premiere of Buggy Optimus with Jakub Knoll behind the wheel and Jakub First in the role of navigator ended prematurely.

"I wanted to compete against the competition, which was strong and interesting, and despite the forty-five-minute penalty due to the brake repair, I succeeded. As training, especially on Friday night, the difficult conditions were great for the crew. I'm glad that I'm gaining new experience," praised Martin , who as a truck driver was happy about his first win.

Together with his colleagues, he is now looking at the Moroccan rally in October. "If we succeed in this competition, it will make sense to appear at the Dakar Rally 2015 , where we should make use of all the experience gained from this season. But now we are rejoicing, but our feet remain on the ground, the baptism of fire still awaits us. Training is never enough," he added.

Bugina Kuby Knolla started in the Hungarian cup race. However, the torrents of rain and mud that plagued the participants of the Hungarian Baja on Friday evening greatly limited her possibilities. It started already in the dark and after a few kilometers the rain came, with which the crew had to fight. Floods of mud stuck the lights and washers. On Saturday, the weather improved considerably and the crew got used to the car and gradually accelerated until the unfortunate end of their race premiere.

"I have a bit of a mixed feeling about it because the engine problems didn't make it to the finish line. It's a shame, because we overcame the difficult conditions on the track in the beginning. On Friday we started in the rain and due to the problems with the washers we could hardly see anything. We even poured water from a bottle onto the glass so that the wipers would remove the dirt a bit. The lights were almost opaque from the mud, and once we took a turn because of it. Kuba then had to stick his head out of the window and navigate me like that, it was more of a fight to reach the finish line than a rally," Knoll described the situation.
