Fiat will present the 500L Trekking model in Geneva

Italian automakers are taking this year's Geneva Motor Show with a frontal attack. Alfa will show the Gloria concept and the 4C coupe , Lancia several limited models and a new diesel , and Fiat will show off the 500L Trekking .

It will be shown in Geneva in its European premiere and is not much different from the previously presented American version . In practice, it is only about the optics of the lights and blinkers, which, however, is determined by different legislation on both continents. The Trekking will therefore continue to have plastic bumper and fender protection and seventeen-inch wheels. The Trekking will be available in seven colors including a special yellow Sole color . All colors will be combined with a white or black roof.

However, for the first time ever, we can take an official look at the interior. It will offer the same design as the base 500L and will be available in two color options – gray combined with leather accessories or black combined with white accessories.

Four engines will appear under the hood of the European variant. Petrol engines are represented by 1.4 16v (95 hp) and 0.9 TwinAir Turbo (105 hp), diesel engines are represented by 1.3 MultiJet II (85 hp) and 1.6 MultiJet II (105 hp). A manual transmission will be available, and a five-speed robotic transmission will also be available for the weaker diesel.

The biggest obstacle is the absence of four-wheel drive. All engines send power to the front wheels, which are aided by the Traction+ system . It is based on special software that brakes the spinning wheel when it slips and sends the power to the other side. The system is active from 30 km/h and is activated by a button on the instrument panel.

Another interesting safety innovation is the City Brake Control system. It can prevent a collision with the car in front at speeds below 30 km/h. The system works in three modes (Automatic Emergency Braking, Prefill and Brake Assist), which can bring the car to a complete stop, brake or at least improve the response of the brake pedal. For 249 euros, you can buy a Lavazza coffee machine that works with the engine running and the car stopped.

At the stand in Geneva, it will be complemented by another novelty – the Fiat 500 GQ . Created in collaboration with Gentlemen's Quarterly magazine, the limited edition of the small Fiat will offer sixteen-inch wheels, two-tone bodywork, chrome mirror caps and GQ logos over the classic. The interior will be equipped with new leather upholstery and the GQ logo on the dashboard again.

The drive will be provided by four engines – 1.2 (69 hp), 0.9 TwinAir (85 hp), 1.4 (100 hp) and 1.3 MultiJet (95 hp), which will cooperate with a manual transmission. Both a hatchback and a convertible will be on offer, and both versions will go on sale in June.

The electric 500e will also have its European premiere in Geneva, but its sales are not expected on the old continent. The electric car is powered by an electric motor with a total output of 111 horsepower and a torque of 200 Nm. According to Fiat, batteries with a capacity of 24 kWh should last about 130 km on a single charge, and even up to 160 km in super-economy mode. The 500e also offers specific changes to the exterior and interior design.

The trio of 500s will be complemented on the stand by the Sedici crossover in a special Nitro Kit edition , which Fiat has already exhibited in Paris, the two-tone Panda 4×4 concept , the luxurious Freemont Lounge AWD , and a specially modified Panda 4×4 Monster Truck will be on display at the nearby airport . In addition to cars, the Fiat stand will also offer a complete range of Mopar accessories .
