Dodge showed a modernized Challenger SRT

A month after the premiere of the modernized Challenger in classic variants, the engineers of the SRT division also looked at the modernization. Result? Higher performance of the naturally aspirated eight-cylinder and especially the Hellcat version !

In quotation marks, the classic Challenger SRT is proud of the naturally aspirated 6.2 HEMI eight-cylinder , which has 15 more horsepower and 6 Nm of torque from the new model year. The result is 491 hp and 643 Nm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels by a six-speed manual or, for the first time in the model's history, an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic .

In terms of appearance, the classic SRT received an aluminum hood with an air intake , new front lights and a different rear spoiler. Similar to the classic Challenger, the rear lights are equipped with LEDs , and the American muscle car rides on 20-inch wheels. The interior is also based on the modernized model, having received an 8.4-inch Uconnect multimedia system , sports seats and new decors.

A step up in the hierarchy of SRT models is the Hellcat version with a 6.2-liter eight-cylinder HEMI, which is additionally equipped with a supercharger . The result is a performance of more than 600 horsepower, which is the most ever produced by a mass-produced eight-cylinder engine of the Chrysler concern. A six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic takes care of power transmission. In addition, the Hellcat also has a front splitter, a larger rear spoiler and an Air Catcher air intake. The 20-inch wheels are lighter than the standard model, they have Pirelli P Zero Nero tires and Brembo brakes with a disc diameter of 390 mm and six pistons hide behind them.

Both Challengers SRT will receive the Drive Modes system, which, depending on the selection of one of the three preset modes ( Sport, Track, Default ), adjusts the steering (only for the classic SRT), traction, transmission, chassis, shift paddles (for the automatic version) and power delivery . The fourth mode is Custom , where the driver adjusts these values himself. Both models also received modified ABS, ESC and traction control.

Another interesting mode that Dodge has prepared is called Valet . After its activation, engine power and torque are reduced , the transmission shifts earlier than normal, the paddles cannot be shifted under the steering wheel with an automatic, Drive Modes and Launch Control are blocked, the steering, traction and chassis are reset to Street mode and stability control is in full effect mode.
