The boss of British Dacia wants a sports model!

Dacia is still perceived as a brand that produces cheap models for rather developing markets. Now, however, it seems that Dacia wants to take a look at the higher levels of the car company .

At least that's what Thierry Sybord , the highest-ranking man in the British branch of Dacia , plans to do. He told Auto Express : “I think a sports car is exactly what we need. Like the original Alpine models, the new sporty Dacia could be simple and very fun to drive. It's not important to be the fastest."

However, Sybord further stated that if such a model were introduced, it would definitely not be a joint product with Caterham : "The new Alpine platform (collaboration with Caterham) is very expensive for Dacia. It would be better to base the model on the Logan platform, like all current Dacias, and go the Mazda MX-5 route.”

Pretty bold plans, what do you say? The question remains whether Dacia would actually be able to produce and sell a similar car.
