The CrossBlue Coupe concept study will be presented in Shanghai

Photos of the new concept of the Volkswagen brand , which bears the name CrossBlue Coupé , were leaked yesterday . It was only a matter of time before a complete official unveiling by the automaker itself. And we waited, just today everything was published before tomorrow's premiere at the Shanghai Exhibition Center.

The sports concept is a kind of vision of a new SUV that will join the seven-seater CrossBlue model in the portfolio (shown this year in Detroit). The studio Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupé is primarily recognizable by its attractive profile with a sloping roof and a more sloping windshield. With the mentioned SUV, it could be expected that practicality will be taken into account, but in this case also design.

The CrossBlue Coupé concept study has a length of 4889 mm, a width of 2015 mm, a height of 1673 mm and a wheelbase of 2980 mm. Compared to the Touareg, it has grown in all respects. Riding on 22-inch alloy wheels with 285/45 tires, the CrossBlue Coupé will offer a boot volume of 537 litersup to 1,101 liters when the rear seats are folded down. The interior of the " German Evoque " offers five seats covered in Nappa leather, cup holders in the center console and other new options. The cabin will probably also include a 10.1-inch touchscreen with an information system or a 12.3-inch "cockpit display". All classic buttons should replace touch panels . In the armrests of the front seats we can also find iPads , which will mainly occupy the passengers in the back seats.

The German automaker has developed a new plug-in hybrid system, which is part of the CrossBlue Coupé concept and later also other models of the concern. The hybrid drive consists of a 3.0 -liter turbocharged six-cylinder TSI with an output of 299 hp and a torque of 500 Nm and two electric motors – the first with a capacity of 54 hp is located on the front axle and the second with an output of 116 hp on the rear axle. The CrossBlue Coupé will offer a total power of 415 hp and a torque of 700 Nm.

The six-speed DSG transmission can send power to the front, rear or all wheels. The driver can choose between five driving modes – ECO, Sport, Off-road, EV and Charge. If the last option is selected, the 9.9 kWh lithium-ion battery is charged using the internal combustion engine. The new SUV from Volkswagen can travel purely on electricity for up to 33 km , but only at a maximum speed of 120 km/h. Using its full power, the CrossBlue Coupé accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 236 km/h.

Volkswagen stated: “In hybrid mode, the concept has a combined consumption of 3 l/100 km . If the car is driven only by a purely conventional engine, the consumption of the car rises to 6.9 l/100 km . This means that the Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupé can travel up to 1,190 km on a full 80 liter tank ".

The world debut will take place tomorrow at the Shanghai Motor Show, as I mentioned in the introduction. According to the first information, it looks like the CrossBlue Coupé concept will become the Tiguan Coupé in serial form. It's no secret that elements of that concept will appear on the new generation Tiguan and Touareg models.
