Mercedes CLA45 AMG competitor in talks

The Ingolstadt-based carmaker has been producing the A3 model since 1996 in a three-door or five-door hatchback. It wasn't until 2010 that the management started toying with the idea of whether the A3 model would be good as a sedan as well . Therefore, the following year, the concept was presented at the Geneva exhibition center and received positive reviews.

That's why this year we saw the serial version of the Audi A3 Sedan , which premiered in New York and, of course, was also shown at the Shanghai Auto Show together with its more furious sister in the form of the Audi S3 Sedan . Now the first speculations began to appear, that Audi is preparing a sharp sedan with the name RS3, which would be based on the RS3 Sportback .

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but perhaps Mercedes-Benz should be worried. And why? As the Audi RS3 Sedan would be a direct rival for the recently revealed CLA45 AMG , which has a 2.0 -liter turbocharged four-cylinder under the hood with 360 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 250 km/h.

In order for Audi to be able to compete well with the aforementioned model from Mercedes, it will have to install a modernized turbocharged 2.5 -liter five-cylinder TFSI with an output of 340-400 horsepower in the engine compartment of the RS3 Sedan . Of course, there would also be quattro all-wheel drive. The current 2.5 TFSI engine is housed in the Audi RS3 Sportback and TT RS . Time will tell whether the automaker with the four rings will also launch the sharpest sedan with the RS3 designation.
