The Volkswagen Caddy and Volkswagen Crafter utility vehicles were named Company Car of the Year in their respective categories in the prestigious ALD Automotive Fleet Awards 2013 poll, organized by the specialist magazine FLEET company cars. The so-called fleet muses, glass statuettes on a granite plinth, were presented to the winners at a gala evening in the premises of the Stará csičička museum in Prague-Bubenč .
The Volkswagen Caddy has been named Company Car of the Year 2013 in the "Midi" light commercial vehicle category, based on votes from the hundred-member jury of the ALD Automotive Fleet Awards poll, made up of fleet managers. The category of the largest "Full-size" light commercial vehicles was dominated by the Volkswagen Crafter . The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand thus won in two out of three sub-categories in the segment of light commercial vehicles, while in short it did not even come in the middle Classic category , in which the Transporter took an excellent second place.
This year's successes of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand in the Fleet Awards 2013 poll follow on from no less excellent results from previous years of this prestigious poll . The recognition of all models of Volkswagen utility vehicles is primarily due to their robust construction offering an unsurpassed combination of excellent utility properties and exemplary operating efficiency with comfort and safety at the level of advanced passenger cars.
The traditionally very rich range of variants of the Caddy and Crafter models includes box cars, Kombi models for the combined transport of people and cargo , personal variants and, in the case of the Crafter, also robust chassis with a cab or double cab , behind which almost any superstructure can be mounted. Even more interior space than the Caddy is offered by the extended version of the Caddy Maxi with a cargo volume of up to 4.2 m 3 , while the largest Crafter can accommodate up to 17 m 3 of cargo.
Drive is provided by refined and very economical TDI diesel engines with common rail direct injection. Petrol (TSI), LPG (Caddy BiFuel) and CNG (Caddy EcoFuel) powered alternatives are also available for the Caddy. Customers can also order Caddy models with the innovative DSG transmission, while the popular 4Motion all-wheel drive is available for both Caddy and Crafter. The advanced construction of the chassis in both models is crowned by the standard ESP stabilization system with a whole range of other additional functions.
