Chrysler introduced the new generation of the 200 sedan.

The previous generation of the Chrysler 200 was only a thoroughly redesigned version of the Chrysler Sebring , which was created in collaboration with Mitsubishi. With the new model, which premiered at the Detroit Motor Show, there is no longer any danger of such a thing – the development took place entirely under the supervision of the Fiat-Chrysler concern .

And according to the American automaker, it should be known. The Chrysler 200 is based on the Compact US Wid e platform, which also serves the Alfa Giulietta in a shortened form, and offers, for example, a multi-element rear axle and MacPherson front struts. According to Chrysler, thanks to this, the 200 should offer top driving dynamics and agility, as well as European precision steering and chassis , adapted to American roads.

As with the chassis, don't look for a reference to the old middle-class Chryslers either. The novelty is characterized by attractive curves of the body with a large front mask, LED headlights and a discreet spoiler in the rear part of the body. The profile of the car is also unconventional, you can choose from 17, 18 or 19-inch wheels. As for the interior, Chrysler promises better materials and workmanship . Similar to the sister Dodge Dart, the main element of the better equipped versions should be the multimedia system.

So far, only a pair of gasoline engines will appear under the hood. Weaker is the four-cylinder 2.4 Tigershark with a power of 186 hp and a torque of 234 Nm, using MultiAir technology, also known from European cars of the Fiat concern. The second engine will be a 3.6-liter six-cylinder Pentastar with a power of 299 hp and a torque of 355 Nm. For the first time in the segment, both engines will be mated exclusively to a nine-speed automatic and front- or all-wheel drive with a detachable rear axle.
