Even during Chevrolet's heyday in Europe , the Equinox SUV was not a very well-known item, but in the USA it is one of the most popular with a 17.4 percent share in the compact SUV segment. Therefore, one cannot be surprised at the modernization that visually united the Equinox with the newer models of the brand.
The visual unification brings with it mainly a two-part radiator mask with sharper shapes and in the LT and LTZ trims also with a typically American portion of chrome. The front light with projector lenses and, in the two higher trim levels already mentioned, with LED daytime running lights were redesigned. At the rear, all trim levels (L, LS, LT and LTZ) have a new bumper, two-piece headlights and a redesigned license plate surround. V6 models also add a chrome tailpipe. The cast wheels are 17 inches for the LT version (at an extra cost to the LS line), the highest specification even offers "eighteens".
Despite the visual modernization of the center console, the Equinox has retained a spacious five-seat interior . In the language of numbers, this means a basic luggage volume of 889 liters and even 1803 liters after the seats are folded down. However, most of the changes are still concentrated within the reach of the driver, who does not avoid the display even in the two lowest specifications. It has seven inches and is used to control the radio and the parking camera. Both higher grades already have a MyLink multimedia system with 4G LTE connection and a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. The automatic selector has a new chrome finish, while the cloth upholstery of the base trim levels feels a bit more luxurious. Through original accessories , Chevrolet offers new tablet holders.
Under the hood, the base is a four-cylinder 2.4 Ecotec with an output of 184 hp and a torque of 233 Nm, available with front or all-wheel drive. A slightly more desirable option will be the 3.6-liter six-cylinder with a power of 306 hp and a torque of 369 Nm, which can tow a trailer weighing up to 1588 kg. The choice is again between front or all-wheel drive. Finally, a mention of the safety equipment , including blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, traffic monitoring behind the car and frontal collision warning for an extra charge.
