The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat already holds the record for the most powerful muscle car in history . Now another record is being added – according to the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), the Challenger Hellcat is the fastest muscle car in the 1/4 mile !
Under the hood of the American coupe is a 6.2-liter eight-cylinder HEMI with a supercharger of 716 horsepower and a torque of 880 Nm. The Dodge ran the 1/4 mile on stock Pirelli P Zero 275/40Z R20 tires in 11.2 seconds at 125 mph (201 km/h) , after switching to special drag tires, the time dropped to 10.8 seconds at 125 mph (203 km/h) .
On stock tires, that's a better time than the Camaro ZL1 (11.96 seconds at 118 mph), the Viper GTS (11.4 seconds) or the latest-generation Corvette ZR1 (11.4 seconds).
