Cadillac wants to make a sportier hybrid

Since 2009, the American Cadillac has been flirting with the production of a handsome hybrid car. However, it was not until 4 years later that the time was right, so that is why the ELR coupe is presented in Detroit .

In terms of design, it follows the year 2009, when the then conceptual Cadillac Converj was presented at the same place. The fact that it is an ecological car can only be recognized by a sharp eye thanks to the full radiator mask, otherwise you have no chance. The ELR skillfully masks its green origins behind the style of the ATS sedan .

The interior offers space for four people , who sit in the order of two in the front and two in the back. Just like from the outside, you can't tell right away that you're sitting in a hybrid inside. The green "potential" is only revealed by the graphics of the drive method on the display of the multimedia system and the green lights around the digital tachometer. The center panel then corresponds to the ATS sedan except for the ventilation vents.

The 4724 mm long coupe is powered by a gasoline engine that acts as a generator for two electric motors . Classic internal combustion engines are represented by an atmospheric four-cylinder 1.4 with an output of 86 hp , two electric motors have a combined output of 183 hp . The maximum power of the entire system, which is indicated in the press materials, is 209 hp . With a torque of 400 Nm, the system even surpasses the six-cylinder from the SRX SUV.

The ELR reaches 100 km/h in about 8.5 seconds and can reach speeds of up to 160 km/h. The lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 16.5 kWh is enough for a range of 56 km if you drive only on electricity. But once you connect the combustion unit, the ELR can travel up to 480 km.
