Cadillac showed the new generation of the CTS model

The American Cadillac has finally risen after a protracted crisis and is starting to churn out one new model after another. After the small sedan ATS and the facelifted SRX , this year it was the turn of the new generation sedan CTS . And he no longer wants to be the fourth in the back in the fight with the German giants.

He already proves it with his self-confident appearance . It was clearly inspired by the small sedan ATS, but it still brings many features not seen before. The pentagonal radiator grille is definitely dominant. The main lights and the bumper with LED diodes for daytime running give a good second to it. Even the rear part does not offer round shapes. The sharp edges of the trunk lid, lights or bumper… Here, someone has prepared well enough for the German test…

The interior is also designed in the spirit of the brand's latest models. Buttons on the dashboard that can be operated with just one touch, the screen of the multimedia system , first-class materials and quality. Someone worked here too. In terms of equipment, the model is also not bad. Seats adjustable to twenty positions , which are additionally heated and air-conditioned, 10 airbags or a Bose audio system.

Despite the fact that the length of the CTS is 4966 mm , which is the longest in the entire history, Cadillac managed to reduce the weight to a historical minimum thanks to the use of light materials, which means 90 kg less than the BMW 520i .

Three engines will appear under the hood, which we have already reported on before . These are a twin-turbocharged 3.6 with 426 horsepower, a non-turbocharged 3.6 with 224 horsepower, and a four-cylinder turbocharged two-liter with 276 horsepower. For the four-cylinder, only a six-speed automatic is available in combination with rear- or all-wheel drive, the weaker six-cylinder has a choice of six- or eight-speed automatic and rear- or all-wheel drive, and finally, the top six-cylinder will only offer an eight-speed automatic with rear-wheel drive.

Asking about the CTS-V version? Cadillac doesn't mention it yet, but offers the V Sport variant as a temporary replacement. It will be available exclusively with a turbocharged six-cylinder and will offer, for example, an electronic limited-slip differential, modified steering, a modified radiator grille or special 18-inch wheels with Pirelli tires, behind which Brembo brakes are hidden.
