BMW has modernized a large part of the model palette

The model range of BMW from Munich has undergone partial changes for 2015. Not only are new, especially diesel engines more economical , but there have also been changes in the composition of standard and additional equipment. Most of the new products will appear at retailers this March .

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will be available in the new basic diesel version 214d with an output of 95 hp and a maximum torque of 220 Nm. In this combination, the MPV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.9 s, the average fuel consumption is 3.8 l/100 km. The offer will also be expanded by the Travel package , which includes longitudinally adjustable rear seats, longitudinal roof racks, tablets on the back of the driver's and front passenger's seats and a net in the luggage compartment.

Both the convertible and the 2-series coupe will receive a supercharged three-cylinder 1.5 TwinPower Turbo with an output of 136 hp, which, however, as well as the all-wheel drive for the 220d Coupé model and new equipment lines, have already been discussed . From the modernized Series 1 comes the latest generation of the Professional navigation system with the ability to update map data via an Internet connection and a display with a diagonal of 8.8 or 6.5 inches. It is also possible to display sports indicators on the display, which provide information on the current values of power and torque of the engine. In addition, the instrument panel in both models will be supplemented with the function of displaying the current fuel consumption. The appearance of both versions will be completed by new light alloy wheels.

The BMW 316d in both body variants will be newly powered by a two-liter four-cylinder diesel engine from the latest BMW engine family with an output of 116 hp and a maximum torque of 270 Nm. In addition to the manual transmission , the unit can optionally be combined with an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission . The modified engine allows the sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.7 s (Steptronic in 10.6 s) and the station wagon in 11.2 s (11.1 s), fuel consumption has dropped to between 4.3 and 3 .9 liters per 100 km for the BMW 316d Sedan, or 4.6 to 4.1 l/100 for the BMW 316d Touring.

The basic version of the 4-series coupe, the BMW 418d Coupé , gets a two-liter diesel engine with a maximum power of 150 hp and a maximum torque of 320 Nm under the hood. A six-speed manual or eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission is available, with both the coupe takes 8.6 seconds to sprint to 100 km/h. Average fuel consumption is between 4.5 and 4.2 l/100 km with the manual, the Steptronic automatic transmission claims 4.4 to 4.1 l/100 km. Another new two-liter diesel engine will power the BMW 420d Coupé , BMW 420d xDrive Coupé, BMW 420d Gran Coupé and BMW 420d xDrive Gran Coupé. Its maximum power has been increased to 190 hp and maximum torque to 400 Nm., the unit can be combined with an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission upon request. BMW 420d accelerates from rest to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds (Steptronic in 7.1 s), 420d xDrive in 7.4 seconds (7.2 s), fuel consumption varies between 4.5 and 4.2 l/100 km for the 420d (Steptronic between 4.3 and 4.0 l/100 km), respectively 4.7 and 4.4 l/100 km for the 420d xDrive (Steptronic between 4.7 and 4.4 l/100 km). The 420d Gran Coupé now accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds (Steptronic in 7.3 seconds), in conjunction with xDrive all-wheel drive , this figure is 7.6 seconds (7.4 seconds). The average consumption of the 420d Gran Coupé is 4.5 to 4.2 l/100 km (Steptronic gearbox 4.3 to 4.0 l/100 km), for the 420d xDrive Gran Coupé the figures vary between 4.9 – 4.6 l /100 km (automatic 4.8 – 4.5 l/100 km).

In addition to modified engines, the BMW 4 Series will also receive a new exhaust system with a different tailpipe design. The diameter of the tailpipe of the BMW 418d Coupé model is 75 mm. BMW 4 Series models, powered by a 190 hp diesel engine, are equipped with two tailpipes of the exhaust system, each with a diameter of 70 mm.

Equipped with a 190-horsepower four-cylinder diesel engine , an eight-speed automatic transmission and the latest generation of Xdrive all-wheel drive, the BMW 5 Series is now slightly more economical. The consumption of the sedan dropped to 4.9 to 4.5 l/100 km, the station wagon claims 5.2 to 4.8 l/100 km. At the same time, the Edition Sport version will appear in the menu, available for all engine variants with the exception of the M550d drive model. The new model stands out from the standard with a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel, LED fog lights, BMW Individual gloss black side window surrounds and 18-inch twin-spoke light-alloy wheels. The range of optional body colors now includes Mediterranean Blue Metallic and Mineral Gray Metallic. These paints can also be chosen in combination with the M sports package. Cashmere silver metallic for the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo will also be added to the range soon.

For real connoisseurs, BMW has the M3 and M4 models in stock in both body variants with exclusive BMW Individual equipment. New matte metallic colors are Frozen black, Frozen silver, Frozen red and Frozen Brilliant white, the interior of the M4 Coupé can be equipped with fine-grain Merino leather upholstery in Opal white, Amaro brown, Golden brown, Cohiba brown and Nutmeg, as well as full leather black upholstery with contrasting seams in Sakhir orange, yellow, blue or Silverstone shades. This model is also offered with a color-matched BMW Individual leather-trimmed dashboard.

The latest in a long line of modified models is the plug-in hybrid BMW i8 , which will receive extended extra and standard equipment. Among the optional items, one can choose, for example, the Pure Impulse Experience program, including lifestyle products in the fields of culture, design, travel and gastronomy. The interior in the Carpo Carum Gray version will offer natural leather elements in combination with partially perforated leather surfaces in a light shade of Carum gray with specific BMW i Blue decorative elements and metallic finishes in Amido shade on the instrument panel, center console and in the door panels. Other optional extras include a leather-trimmed engine cover and black brake calipers.
