BMW Isetta Whatta Drag heading to auction

The small BMW Isetta was produced between 1955 and 1962 and ranks among the most successful city cars ever produced. In 1955, it was the first car to achieve an average consumption of 3 l/100 km and thus became the best-selling car with a single-cylinder engine. However, one Isetta is really special and you can have it too, as it is going up for auction under the management of RM Auctions and it will take place on February 16, 2013.

The only Isetta modified in this way will offer a turbocharged eight-cylinder engine from Chevrolet with an output of around 730 horsepower, and the power to the wheels is transmitted through a two-speed manual transmission . Furthermore, the small vehicle boasts a two-circuit AP brake system or suspension from the M3 model. The front wheels have BF Goodrich G-Force tires and the only rear wheel is with a Sumitomo HTRZ II tire.

The modified BMW Isetta Whatta Drag is fully drivable and functional, but is intended exclusively for exhibitions and other events. It should not be used on roads or race tracks due to the enormous torque that can be very dangerous for the crew. It is expected that the small "American" Isetta will be auctioned for 75,000 – 100,000 USD (about 1.42 – 1.85 million crowns).
