The arrival of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer means the expansion of the BMW production program into a new segment . The well-thought-out car brings a premium character among compact cars , but above all an extraordinary combination of comfort, interior size and adaptability.
The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is only 4342 mm long , 1800 mm wide and 1555 mm high. Compact exterior dimensions are therefore combined in this car with an exceptionally large interior space, which is the ideal combination for sovereignty in ever-growing urban agglomerations. The size of the interior space is given by the extraordinary wheelbase of 2670 mm in conjunction with the space-saving front drive.
The elevated position of the driver's and passenger's seats provides an optimal view and at the same time facilitates entry and exit. A strong point of the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is the considerable variability of the interior space . The luggage compartment has a volume of 468 to 1510 l. The rear seats are sliding and allow you to change the legroom on the rear seats and the size of the luggage compartment as needed. The backrests of the rear seats can be folded down and divided in a ratio of 40:20:40 . The flexibility of the interior space is also increased by the forward-folding backrest of the passenger seat.
Three powerful, light and economical engines of the new generation of BMW TwinPower Turbo drive units are ready to drive the new Active Tourer. The BMW 218i Active Tourer is powered by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine with 136 hp and a considerable appetite for revolutions. The top version at launch will be the BMW 225i Active Tourer with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 231 hp. The four-cylinder turbodiesel BMW 218d Active Tourer with an output of 150 hp also does a great job under the hood, which is characterized by a combined consumption of 4.1 l/100 km.
As with all BMWs, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer impresses every driver with the quality of its driving characteristics. The all-new front-drive floor platform is supported by a front axle with wishbones and vertical spring and shock absorbers, and an advanced multi-link rear axle. Later in 2014, the range of versions of the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will be supplemented by the version with BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive .
The considerable standard of safety and comfort of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer can be further enhanced by many elements from the BMW ConnectedDrive program , which include, for example, the assistant driving in queues, the possibility of integrating mobile phones into the car system, the Head-Up Display or the use of RTTI real-time traffic information.
