BMW introduced the X4 compact SUV

One of the last numbers missing from the BMW X range is 4. This was reserved for another hybrid coupe and SUV , this time based on the classically conceived X3 . Based on the concept of 2013 , the serial form is now heading to New York, USA.

The body design probably doesn't need to be described much, because it combines elements of the modernized X3 (front part) and the first or as-yet-unpresented second generation larger X6 (mainly the shape of the body). Compared to the already mentioned X3, the X4 is 14 mm longer and 36 mm lower. The interior is said to seat up to five passengers, and the driver and front passenger sit 20 mm lower than the X3. Practicality is emphasized not only by the five seats, but also by the rear seats divided in a ratio of 40:20:40, which open up a space with a volume of up to 1400 liters .

Under the hood of the European version of the X4, we find three petrol and three diesel engines. The petrol family consists of the xDrive20i (184 hp), xDrive28i (245 hp) and xDrive35i (306 hp) versions. The range of diesel engines includes the xDrive20d (190 hp), xDrive30d (258 hp) and xDrive35d (313 hp) versions. An M Performance version is also said to be in the works, BMW is not even speculating about the X4 M yet.

Sales will begin later this spring, with a premiere at the New York Auto Show starting next month. The basic price in the USA was set at 45,625 dollars (approx. 900,000 CZK).
