BMW will show the form of another plug-in hybrid model in Frankfurt

In the end, BMW will present not two, but three ecological models at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The small i3 and sporty i8 will be followed by the large Concept X5 eDrive SUV.

However, its drive is a little different than that of the aforementioned pair of models. It consists of a TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder and a 95-horsepower electric motor, which is supplied with energy from lithium-ion batteries located under the floor of the trunk.

The battery capacity should be enough for 30 purely electric kilometers , during which the X5 reaches a maximum of 120 km/h. If a conventional combustion engine is also connected, the X5 will shoot to 100 km/h in 7 seconds. BMW claims a combined consumption of 3.8 l/100 km and emissions of less than 90 g CO2/km. I'll leave it up to each of you to decide how realistic it is.

What is more realistic is the possibility to recharge the batteries from the classic home or public network and the choice between three driving modes – Intelligent Hybrid (combined drive), Pure Electric (driving purely on electricity) and Save Battery (saving energy in the batteries for later use). Visually, the concept is distinguished from the classic X5 by modified roof rails, elements in blue color and, above all, 21-inch wheels.
