Evise Presley's BMW 507 will be renovated

This particular BMW 507 was originally produced in white and served in BMW's test fleet. Elvis Presley bought it while still serving as a soldier in 1958. Before it was delivered, the carmaker rebuilt the engine and replaced the windshield. Elvis subsequently repainted the car in the red color Red hue from the Porsche sample book. When Elvis returned to the United States in 1960 (he was stationed in Germany), he took his BMW 507 with him. But he only drove it in the States for two years and sold it to Tommy Charles, who worked at a Chrysler dealership in New York. He took it to Alabama and replaced the original engine with a Chevrolet V8, then raced it in sprints. In 1968, it was purchased by Jack Castor, who originally planned to renovate it. However, he never managed to realize this and so now he took the car back to Munich. The car will be on display at the museum for a short time before its demanding renovation, which is estimated to take two years, begins.
