Audi lightened the TT coupe

From the 8th to the 11th of May, the annual gathering of fans of GTI vehicles takes place in Austria at Lake Wörthersee . And since this meeting has the full support of the parent company Volkswagen , every year the group's brands present some new concept there.

It won't be the same this year either. We do not know the complete list of new products, but Audi has already presented its biggest gem. The TT Ultra Quattro Concept is actually a farewell TT, because next year we will get to know the new generation of this popular coupe.

And to make the farewell as stylish as possible, Audi equipped the Ultra Quattro concept with several differences. The first is appearance. The radiator grille looks aggressive, both bumpers, sills, wheels and rear wing are new. The body is sprayed in white, which is complemented by the hood, roof, trunk and the lower part of the thresholds and bumpers in dark color. In addition, elements in a darker shade are made of CFRP material , which is a carbon-reinforced plastic.

The interior received lightweight seats from the R8 GT model and carbon moldings on the dashboard and door panels. Instead of rear seats, there is a spacer that improves body rigidity. Other changes include new controls on the center console and a new instrument panel.

But the biggest change is not the appearance, but a complete lightening! Audi saved a whole 299 kilograms . You may ask where… First of all, it is by using the already mentioned CFRP material. In addition to the body panels, you can also find it on the roof or the B-pillar. You can find magnesium on the floor of the car for a change. The seats saved 22 kg, the aluminum wheels another 20 kg… The total weight of 1111 kg is definitely not a coincidence.

Thanks to all the economy measures, the TT Ultra Quattro is considerably faster than the classic TT. Under the hood is a four-cylinder 2.0 TFSI with a power of 310 hp and a torque of 400 Nm. Audi says the Ultra Quattro sprints to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds – 1.3 seconds faster than the classic TT and just 0.1 second slower than the TT RS Plus. The maximum speed is 280 km/h.

Like most cars presented at the event, this TT will remain a one -off affair . However, Audi expects to use some fuel-saving features in the future third-generation TT coupe and cabriolet .
