Audi R8 e-Tron caught in traffic. Again.

We have already flooded our Facebook profile with the Audi R8 e-Tron several times, but in all cases it was either spy photos or a video of the new acoustic engine sound system. However, the spies from WORLDCARFANS have been lurking around with the camera these days and honestly filmed one of the pre-production pieces ( video here ).

As you can see, Audi doesn't bother with camouflage at all. The e-Tron titles on the sides and windshield could then only be complemented by a red sign with the inscription R8 , as is the case on Google maps. Even without stickers, however, the fact that the mentioned acoustic system does not help the car to sound convincing is more than a perfect identification sign.

If there are no unexpected changes in the powertrain, the production version of the Audi R8 e-Tron will receive lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 53 kWh, which will drive four electric motors (one for each wheel). The maximum power of 230 kW may be an insult to supersport lovers, but any outrage will certainly be corrected by the shocking torque of 4500 Nm! Yes, you read that right. The advantage of electric motors is not only cheap and ecological operation, but mainly embarrassingly low values of internal friction (only between the stator and the rotor) and torque available essentially immediately. Thanks to this, the battery-laden R8 accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 230 km/h.

According to available information, Audi will evaluate the demanding testing by the end of the year. When the production version of the Audi R8 e-Tron arrives, the base price is expected to be around 100,000 euros.
