Audi Q8 approved for production!

The Ingolstadt carmaker currently offers three crossovers with the Q3, Q5 and Q7 designations. It's no secret that Audi is planning the creation of other series over time, such as the Q1, Q2 or Q4 . Yesterday, the large crossover Q8 was confirmed and subsequently approved for production.

It will be a luxury model from the range of SUVs in the style of four-door coupes. The automaker itself stated that the demand for this novelty was really high and that is why it increased the estimated annual sales to 25,000 units.

The new Audi Q8 will probably be built on the MLB platform with an extended wheelbase. The mentioned chassis will also be shared by the new generation Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg . Due to the significant use of aluminum in the body, the weight of the car could be 300 kg less compared to the previous generation Q7 .

Six- and eight-cylinder engines are expected under the hood, as well as a plug-in hybrid assembly and a sharp RS variant with around 550 horsepower. The date and place of the premiere have not yet been announced, but the performance will most likely take place by 2017.
