Audi presented a sporty version of the A1 hatchback

The designation pocket rocket certainly does not fit every sharp hatchback belonging to the city car segment. In the case of the Audi S1 and its sibling the S1 Sportback , however, this applies to a large extent.

Everything starts with the already drying sports coat, which, compared to the classic A1 or A1 Sportback, comes with bigger bumpers , sill extensions, a prominent rear wing and quad exhaust tips. Also worth noting are modified xenon headlights , LED rear lights, seventeen-inch wheels (one inch larger for an extra charge), behind which are hidden 310 mm disc brakes , and an additional Quattro package, which includes a more aggressive bodykit or a larger rear spoiler.

The interior benefits from sports seats (S sport seat with integrated headrest for an additional fee), a flattened steering wheel, sports pedals and contrasting seams in the color of the car's body . This also appears on the seats or the central tunnel around the gear selector, which is part of the additional Quattro package.

However, the most important part of the sports car from Ingolstadt is certainly its drivetrain. Under the hood hides a turbocharged two-liter TFSI with an output of 231 hp and a maximum torque of 370 Nm. Thanks to permanent quattro all-wheel drive with a Haldex inter-axle clutch, the small hatchback accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds (A1 Sportback in 5.9 s) and reaches a maximum speed of 250 km/h . According to paper data, consumption reaches 7 l/100 km (7.1 l/100 for the Sportback) and CO2 emissions are 162 and 166 g/km respectively.

The chassis is equipped with a McPherson type front axle , and a four-link axle at the rear. Both models will go on sale in the second quarter of this year at a price of 29,950 euros (approx. 820,000 CZK) for the three-door model, or 30,800 euros (approx. 844,000 CZK) for the Sportback.
