Audi F12 e Performance – electric version to drop

Audi has big plans for the future with electric models . After messing around with the electric R8, A6 or small A1 concepts, here we have a full-fledged example of that vision. In cooperation with Bosch and the University of Aachen, Audi completed the F12 e Performance prototype, which offers a platform that can be used in all kinds of electric vehicles.

The concept vehicle is based on the R8 coupe , suggesting that the F12 e platform will also be used in such sporty models. The model is powered by a 38+ kWh battery and three electric motors with a total output of 204 hp and a torque of 550 Nm. There is one synchronous motor on the front axle, and two asynchronous motors on the rear axle.

At low speeds, the car can only be powered by the front engine. The two rear ones are only activated at higher speeds ( Audi has not published what those speed values are).

The advantage of this design is that it can be used in various types of electric cars, and in addition, this design is also ready for the installation of a plug-in hybrid system . However, how much of this prototype will make it into mass production is still in the stars…
