The next cheap Datsun will be a compact sedan

The reborn Datsun enters the Russian market , which was already identified as one of the key ones at the start of the entire project. It is therefore not surprising that this event brought with it the presentation of a car specially developed for the needs of Russians. But the sedan on-Do is not as new as it might seem at first glance.

Anyone who is at least partially familiar with Russian automobile production will already recognize from the basic proportions that the on-Do sedan is a very artistically redesigned Lada Granta , with which it shares some important technical and styling elements and will even be produced together with it on the same line in Togliatti . The final design of the model then comes from the brand's design center in Japan , according to the press release, while the technology was developed with the help of AvtoVAZ technicians in Russia to make the sedan better suited to local drivers as well as natural conditions.

The 4337 mm long , 1500 mm high and 1700 mm wide sedan offers a 530 liter luggage compartment , which is the most in its class. The drive is provided by a 16-liter gasoline engine with an output of 88 horsepower. The Japanese automaker set the price at less than 400,000 rubles (approx. 224,000 CZK). Sales will start in the summer at over 25 dealerships across the country.

But the origin of the name on-Do caught my attention the most from the entire press release. Do is taken from Japanese , where it means path and movement, while he is from Russian , emphasizing the power, performance and masculinity of the automobile . Whoever finds masculinity in this Datsun has ten mazes with us…
