The year 2013 will bring many changes to Czech drivers , which in some cases will make their lives significantly easier. You can prepare for the death of a loved one, the next wave of driver's license exchanges or the possibility of driving a scooter with a car driver's license. But what will the changes look like in practice? Look at!
The "end" of a loved one
As of January 19, 2013 , the possibility of using the traditional Czech excuse "a person close to me was driving" ends after committing a certain offense, which will also be recorded on camera. The phrase fikan was used countless times by Czech drivers, so the Ministry of Transport decided to put an end to this claim.
Very simply put, the owner is now fully responsible for their vehicle and must ensure that the person driving it complies with the regulations. If he does not do so and identifies someone else as the culprit, but cannot find that person, the car owner has committed an administrative offense for which he faces a fine of CZK 10,000 . However, his points will not be taken away. He can get rid of co-payment only if he proves that the vehicle was stolen or that he is transferring it to another owner. But everything can be solved even more simply. If you receive the parcel, you pay CZK 2,500 within 15 days, you do not make excuses and you do not lose points. This will solve the whole case. A close person will therefore continue to function, but not as an excuse.
Child support defaulters can lose their driver's license
The amendment, which was accompanied by a large number of question marks and emotions. In a nutshell, this is the possibility of withdrawing the driver's license in case of non-payment of alimony . On the one hand, there is an opinion that the amendment could be a lever against some notorious non-payers, but on the other hand, there is a risk that confiscating the driver's license will not somehow solve the lack of funds to pay alimony in some cases.
However, if there are non-payers who need a driver's license to perform a profession that covers their alimony, they will not be affected by this amendment.
Last exchange of driver's licenses
This year marks the end of a large wave of driver's license exchanges . This year, people who were issued a license between 2001 and 2004 (specifically January 1, 2001 and April 30, 2004) are required to replace it. The exchange period is until December 31, 2013, but it is recommended not to wait for the exchange at the last minute, as was the case in recent years.
For the exchange, you must have your old driver's license, a valid ID card, a photo and, of course, a completed application for the issuance of a new driver's license.
For a weaker motorcycle without a driving school
Not so literally, though – if you hold a Group B license , you can now drive a motorcycle with an engine capacity of up to 125cc and equipped with an automatic transmission. The law is intended to make it easier for smaller municipalities and partly also for the environment. However, its functionality is doubtful.
