The SUV from Alfa Romeo will be based on the Jeep Cherokee

Alfa Romeo had plans to enter the SUV segment during 2003 when it unveiled the Kamal concept at the Geneva Motor Show . Unfortunately, it didn't work out, and that's why the automaker is still without an SUV. But this is soon to change, as the CEO of the UK Alfa Romeo dealership, Damien Dally , has confirmed the development of the aforementioned crossover.

Specifically, in an interview with The Telegraph magazine, he revealed: "The aforementioned SUV in the brand's portfolio will appear within three years". Unfortunately, the CEO refused to go into details, but hinted that Fiat owns the Jeep brand, and therefore the upcoming Alfa Romeo SUV will be full of technology from the American automaker.

Alfa Romeo's new crossover will be based on the new Jeep Cherokee , which debuted this year at the New York Auto Show. Under the hood of the Italian SUV will probably be the same power units as in the Cherokee model. More precisely, we mean, for example, a 2.4 -liter four-cylinder with 186 horsepower and 232 Nm of torque or a 3.2 -liter six-cylinder with 270 horsepower and 316 Nm.

Unfortunately, no images have been released, but the new crossover could be based on the design of the named Kamal concept. There is even speculation that the planned SUV could be named Kamal. Well, let's be surprised, two or three years and the SUV will make its debut.
