Alfa Romeo Spider 2015 – New information

The new generation of Spider from Alfa Romeo is slowly approaching, so it would be good to remember all the available information, which is not only related to design, but also technology.

In 2010, the Pininfarina design studio presented a concept called the 2uettottanta (photo in the gallery), and a similar look has since been expected from the production Alfa Romeo Spider . However, Marco Tencone , chief designer of the Alfa Romeo and Maserati brands, was in charge of its production form. The latter is signed under the Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans and the sporty Alfa Romeo 4C .

According to information from the Fiat Centro Stile design center, where the new Spider is being worked on, the novelty will be similar to the Pininfarina concept, but it will not be directly based on it. Despite previous speculations, the Spider will not get a retro design, but rather a modern one to fit in with the brand's current offering. Nevertheless, the car will receive a number of elements classic for historical Alfa Romeo models.

Technically, the new Spider will be related to the new generation Mazda MX-5 , on the development of which the two brands are cooperating. Although the construction of the cars will be identical, the design, engines and tuning of the chassis will be completely different. To drive, the Spider is expected to be less ultimate than the 4C coupe, but it will also focus on driving pleasure. However, Alfa Romeo has not yet reached this part of the development, as it is still fully devoted to the new 4C .

A 1.4 TB MultiAir turbo four-cylinder appears under the hood of the Spider , which can also be found in the Giulietta hatchback. In the case of an open sports car, however, it will be modified for longitudinal construction and its output is expected to be around 170 horsepower . The installed transmission will be a six-speed dual clutch .

Development and production of the Spider and MX-5 is and will be in Japan, with the Mazda model set to debut in early 2015. The Alfa Romeo sibling will arrive a bit later, officially expected in November 2015.
