Alfa Romeo 4C – more spy shots, premiere in Detroit

Alfa Romeo 4C is a new sports model from the Italian car company, the concept study of which was revealed last year. But these days, spy photographers have once again caught the small two-seater 4C testing on roads in Italy.

The sports car is still quite camouflaged, but we can still see the basic lines, which are very similar to the mentioned concept. The chassis will be made of carbon fiber, plastic, aluminum and this means that it will have an extremely low weight of around 850 kg . The turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder FPT with direct injection will offer around 200 horsepower and will be located in the middle of the car. With this power unit, the sports model accelerates to 100 km/h in less than five seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 250 km/h. Horsepower, together with torque, will be transmitted to the rear axle by means of a TCT dual-clutch automatic transmission , which can be found, for example, in the Giulietta model.

The public premiere will not take place in Geneva, as previously announced, but at the Detroit Auto Show , which will open its doors in January next year. In 2013, the new 4C will arrive in European showrooms and the following year in American showrooms. The Italian automaker plans to sell 2,500 units a year from the Maserati factory in Modena, where the GranTurismo and GranCabrio are also produced.
