According to unofficial sources, Honda is developing a successor to the S2000

Who does not know the small Japanese roadster called the Honda S2000 , which was produced between 1999 and 2009 in two generations. Time is really running out and next year it will be five years since the S2000 entered the automotive world. However, according to unofficial sources, it looks like the automaker is reportedly developing a successor to the two-door roadster.

It is probably unnecessary to ask the question whether you miss the Honda S2000. Don't despair, you are not alone, because we in the editorial office miss her too. Nothing is confirmed yet, but according to an undisclosed source, Honda is said to be working on a new rear-wheel drive compact model that should compete with the new generation Mazda MX-5 and Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT86 . Compared to the Honda S2000, the successor will be a little lighter, smaller and most importantly cheaper. The name is still unknown, but the working designation is S1500 .

The new Honda S1500 should reportedly be even smaller than the Mazda MX-5 and have a 1.3 -liter or 1.5 -liter i-VTEC inline four-cylinder gasoline engine under the hood. If the second option were chosen, we would see a performance of approx. 132 horses. As I mentioned earlier, the S1500 will probably be lighter than the S2000, and specifically talk about a total weight of about 900 kg . Of course, the driven rear wheels would remain, to which the power would be transmitted by a five-speed manual. There is also a possibility that the engine will be stored in the middle.

Unfortunately, there is no more information to be had, not even spy photos or illustrations. If this is really true, then we will have to wait a few more years, because look how long it takes to put the modern Honda NSX into production. Anyway, we'd love a new model of this spec and hope it all comes to fruition.
