Report from the Mercedes-Benz Museum

In our series of trips to automobile museums, we have already shown the BMW museum and the National Technical Museum in Prague. This time it's time for another trip to Germany, this time to the Mercedes-Benz car museum in Stuttgart, i.e. to the most traditional German car company.

The museum building has an "organic" shape, whatever that means, but it's also glassed in, so you'll be able to view some of the exhibits in daylight. After buying a ticket, you go to the elevator, which will drop you off on the top floor and you can start going down through the exhibition. Right next to the elevator is a stuffed horse, as the predecessor of the car, but that's not why we're here. The first automobile must, of course, be Benz's four-wheeled vehicle and a number of vehicles resembling carriages in particular. Then you finally get to the oldest cars. And they are followed by the well-known 500K cars, or the iconic 300 SL , including the sporty SLR .

As you keep descending, cars from the 70s and 80s appear. E and S class sedans, sporty SL , "Baby Benz" 190E , buses and also taxis. There are also several trucks, a garbage type Econic , a hearse, a fire engine, or a special aerodynamic transporter for racing cars. There is also a Papamobil built on the basis of the off-road vehicle G or the special ML from the movie Jurassic Park . The floor with racing cars is also very impressive. On the improvised banked corner there are DTM specials, Formula 1, rally cars, but also racing tractors. The last topic is prototypes and record cars.

The museum is definitely worth a visit if you happen to pass by, stop by even if you are not a fan of the brand. You are sure to choose your favorite among the many exhibited exhibits.
