A range of cheap Volkswagens will arrive in 2015!

Volkswagen goes against Dacia . That's it already. By 2015 , models will appear on the market, the price of which should not exceed 6,000 euros (approx. 150,000 CZK). How is it possible?

Ulrich Hackenberg , VW's head of new product development, reveals this in an interview with Auto Express : "It makes sense to use existing technologies that have already been invested in. It will be easier to reduce the price by sharing some components.” Still, the development of the new low-cost car is still in its early stages: “We are still in the calculation and evaluation phase,” added Hackenberg.

Volkswagen also further reveals the price of the model: "We make cars in China that cost around 8,000 euros , but there is still room here for cars priced around 6,000 euros ," Hackenberg claims. "We are still looking for new segments in the global markets and now we see a lower segment with a lot of market potential."

What we also already know is that the cheap car (so far referred to as Budget Car ) will have its own brand: "It won't be Seat or any other existing brand. It will be something new," concludes Hackenberg.

Thanks to the German Auto Bild , we now know that the offer will include a station wagon (aimed at the Logan station wagon), sedan (aimed at the classic Logan) and MPV (aimed at the Lodgy/Dokker pair). The smallest representative will be a sedan with a length of about 4 meters, a station wagon and an MPV will reach a length of at least 4.2 meters. Under the hood, transversely mounted units will appear (this will provide more space inside), which will be mated to manual transmissions . And what could those new models look like?
