A slightly different Land Rover Defender

The off-road capabilities of the Land Rover Defender are unquestionable. However, the British off-road , which has been produced for several decades, has one big drawback for some – a slow diesel engine under the hood. However, the American company Icon will quickly make amends.

Americans, who by the way can no longer officially buy a Defender, have replaced the classic diesel in the Defender D90 from 1995 for an honest eight-cylinder small-block 6.2 series LS3 from General Motors. The engine itself, however, underwent a rather significant transformation, when it received aluminum pistons , new rockers, a metal connecting rod, modified cooling, intake and its own exhaust system . Power transmission to all four wheels is handled by a four-speed automatic transmission and an Atlas II reduction gearbox.

The exterior appearance of the Icon has been beautified only very gently – the new seventeen-inch wheels with off-road tires BF Goodrich A/T 285/70/R17, behind which six-piston brakes at the front and four-piston brakes at the rear, complete LED lights and matte black metallic paint are hidden. The interior received a new Hellcat steering wheel , aluminum pedals, new seat upholstery, a redesigned center console and new alarm clocks. Rubber plugs for water drainage are a functional issue.

If you are interested in a similar car, you can have it made. The Icon company is based in California and, in addition to this excellent Defender, it also offers a Ford Bronco or a special pickup truck based on Chevrolet.
