First Corvette 427 Convertible auctioned for $600,000

It's only been a little over a week since we informed you about the fastest convertible in the history of the legendary Corvette model of the American car company Chevrolet, and we already have the first happy owner.

He bought a Corvette made in a special edition 427 at a charity auction organized by the car company itself and had to take an incredible 600 thousand US dollars out of his pocket. For this money, he got a car with a production number ending in the triple number 001, and he can also be heartened by the fact that he will be the only owner of this unique edition for a long time. He will get to the other interested parties in six months at the earliest.

And now for some theory. The engine is powered by a 7.0-liter V8 engine from the Z06 with an output of 377 kW (505 hp) and 637 Nm of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Corvette 427 with a curb weight of 1522 kilograms can accelerate from zero to 96 km/h in an excellent 3.8 seconds. The quarter mile can be completed in 11.8 seconds and the maximum speed is 306 kilometers per hour.

The reduced weight compared to the standard version is primarily due to the use of carbon fibers on the front hood, fenders and door sills. There is also a light front splitter and ultra-light wheels shod with Michelin PS2 tires.
