2013 Range Rover Sport – RS Version Considered!

Not long ago, we gave you the first information about the upcoming Range Rover Sport for the 2013 model year, which is currently only being tested. But now the next version of the Range Rover, which so far had no parallels, is taking shape. The management decided to start working on a completely new sports variant, which should add a completely different dimension to the model range. How do you like the idea of the Range Rover Sport RS ?

In an interview with Car Advice magazine, a representative of the car manufacturer revealed that the RS version of the Range Rover Sport model is being seriously considered. "It's a new direction we would like to follow in the future". As an example, he cited the Jaguar brand, where models with the RS designation sell the most and provide the automaker with the largest sales.

The Range Rover Sport RS is intended to be the "hardest" model in the lineup, while still not being a direct competitor to the Porsche Cayenne GTS . David Waide commented on the claim that if the public compares Jaguar's RS models and Porsche's S and GTS models, they will find really big differences that put Porsche ahead.

However, the biggest speculation is the engine. According to David Weid, it will most certainly come from the Supercharged V8 version. It is a 5.0-liter forked eight-cylinder with an output of 550 horsepower and a torque of up to 680 Nm. The new eight-speed ZF automatic transmission will take care of the power transfer and the acceleration from 0-100 km/h will take place in exactly 5 seconds, according to the information. We'll see if the Range Rover Sport RS will eventually go into production and what other differences we'll find compared to the Supercharged V8 version.
