The Japanese automaker wanted to avoid a lot of speculation, and therefore revealed the first information and photos of the new generation Subaru Forester for the North American and domestic Japanese markets. We could have seen the look before, as images of the car's scanned brochure and some unofficial details were leaked . This is already the fourth generation , the first one was introduced in 1997.
Compared to its predecessor, the new Forester has grown in every possible way. It has a length of 4595 mm (an increase of 35 mm), a width of 1695 mm (an increase of 20 mm) and a height of 1795 mm (an increase of 15 mm). Of course, the wheelbase was also extended to 2640 mm (an increase of 25 mm). In practice, this means that the Forester will have an extremely spacious interior, especially in the leg area and luggage compartment. In the cabin we also find a new information system that includes navigation; reversing camera; connection with a smartphone and other options.
In the domestic market , a 2.0 -liter four-cylinder with a capacity of 148 horsepower will be placed in the engine compartment, connected to a six-speed manual or CVT transmission. It also features a 2.0 -liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 280 horsepower and will be offered exclusively with a CVT . Two engines will also be available on the North American market – a 2.5 liter with 170 horsepower and a six-speed manual or CVT or a 2.0 liter with turbocharging and direct injection with a capacity of 250 horsepower and a CVT transmission only.
We do not yet know the power units intended for the European market, but a 2.0-liter gasoline and diesel engine could appear on the mentioned market. In Japan, sales will begin on November 13, but the premiere will not take place until November 30 in Los Angeles .
