Mazda is preparing a car the size of Volkswagen Up! – model 1

The Japanese automaker currently has its smallest model, the Mazda 2 (referred to as the Demio in Japan). The " Two " is built on the same platform as the Ford Fiesta , but there is speculation that the next generation Mazda 2 will share the same platform as the next Fiat Punto . According to the latest information, Mazda is considering a new model that would be included in the range under the 2 series .

For now, the project, referred to as Mazda 1 , is in the minds of the engineers themselves and at the very beginning. However, if the production is approved, subsequent sales will take place in traditional and developing markets. We should wait for the " One " until 2015. The CEO of Mazda , Yasuhiro Aoyama , said: "We have two options for how the Mazda 1 could look – either similar to the Volkswagen up! or we will create a low-cost model specifically designed for developing markets, but with the chance to expand the model to other countries as well.

A lot of car companies these days are trying to save money on every upcoming model, and even Mazda is considering approaching a brand for the purpose of partnership. If it was not possible to bring someone to cooperate, then Mazda could manage it alone. Ford (same platform as Fiesta and 2 , see the introduction of the article) or Fiat (recently closed collaboration on sharing the MX-5 chassis for the Alfa Romeo Spider ) are considered.
