Fisker Atlantic is introduced two years later!

The American car company Fisker is relatively young, as it was founded only in 2007. It revealed its first plug-in hybrid luxury model called Karma in 2008 at the North American Auto Show . Now Fisker has announced that production of its planned smaller model will be delayed by two years .

The Atlantic concept was revealed this year at the New York Fairgrounds . It uses a four-cylinder gasoline engine from BMW , which keeps the batteries always charged and acts as a generator. Rear or all wheels are driven. The production version of the Atlantic is not expected to appear until late 2014 or early 2015, which is almost two years later than planned. Even the smaller sedan will offer a plug-in hybrid drive and a gasoline engine.

The price is estimated at 55,000 dollars (approx. 1,040,000 crowns in conversion) and with the help of this model the American brand is supposed to make money on other upcoming cars – for example, crossover or SUV . Atlantic needs to be taken care of as it is very important to Fisker and they can't afford the same thing as Karma (delays and serious reliability issues).

According to the Automotive News source, about 90% of the parts for the smaller sedan are designed and Fisker is currently negotiating with suppliers. The new Atlantic will be built at the former GM plant in Wilmington, Delaware. It was purchased two years ago for almost 20 million dollars.
