Volkswagen Polo as SUV probably in 2014

Crossover Nissan Juke apparently confused a lot of car companies that are inventing their representative in the given segment and could thus compete with it. These days, the Volkswagen concern also announced that it is currently working on a crossover based on the new generation of the Polo model.

The Polo SUV will be built on the MQB platform , and of course the next generation of the small hatchback will also ride on it. It will mainly compete with the Nissan Juke , MINI Countryman and sister Audi Q2 , which was presented at the Paris Motor Show as the Crosslane Coupé concept. Chief Engineer, Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg , stated: "We have to increase the offer of SUVs ." It is important that we are in the A0 SUV segment and we are working on it”.

The German brand will also take inspiration from the Cross Coupé , which was shown last year at the Tokyo Motor Show. Chief designer Klaus Bischoff wanted to indicate with this concept what the new face of all new SUVs will look like. Hackenberg also pointed out: " The Polo SUV will be adapted differently for certain markets. Basic versions will be available only in developing countries, while in Europe we will see more technically sophisticated versions". The Polo -derived SUV will be offered mostly with front-wheel drive, but four-wheel drive will be on offer.

Volkswagen has confirmed that it will reveal two new SUVs over the next three months. More precisely, it will be an SUV derived from the Up! u, it will be presented at the end of this month in Sao Paulo. In January of next year, the premiere of an SUV based on the American version of the Passat model will take place at the Detroit Auto Show. The premiere of the Polo SUV is not yet officially confirmed, but there is talk of 2014.
