Ford Fiesta ECOnetic – 2.6 l/100 km!

We recently talked about the unique triumph of the Skoda Citigo on the occasion of the Economy Run 2012 race , when the small Skoda managed to conquer the test track with a consumption of 2.97 l/100. However, Ford didn't want to like such a great result , which blew everyone away with the diesel Fiesta ECOnetic.

It all took place on the occasion of this year's Shell FuelSave MPG Marathon in Great Britain. The Andrew Marriott / Andy Dawson crew managed to cover the 370 mile course with 2.59L/100km. These were normal daily conditions, during which drivers encountered traffic jams, weather conditions and other factors that definitely do not support low fuel consumption.

I have already mentioned the Ford Fiesta ECOnetic in several previous articles, and I consider it a model of economical and environmentally friendly personal transportation. Under the hood lies a four-cylinder TDCi with a volume of 1.6 liters, an output of 71 kW and a torque of 205 Nm. The automaker itself states that the Fiesta must be able to drive with a consumption of 3.3 l/100 km. However, the winning team proves that with a little patience you can ride for less.

The Fiesta ECOnetic does not only help itself to excellent fuel consumption with its economical engine. Compared to the standard versions, it differs from the reduced chassis, tires with low rolling resistance, the Stop/Start system, optimized transmissions, eco mode, covering the chassis or an alternator with variable power.
