New Honda Civic – More information

The Japanese car manufacturer Honda has released more detailed information about the European version of the popular, but already somewhat futuristic Civic hatchback in the past. In the new form of the 2012 model year, it will once again go into battle against the stalwarts of the Volkswagen concern or perhaps the excellent Ford Focus of the new generation. So what can we look forward to?

First of all, of course, it will be a design that has already won a number of supporters and opponents in the past. The basic aerodynamic line will remain the same, but changes have taken place on the now lower and fresher front end, which has a favorable effect on the drag coefficient. Also new are the external rear-view mirrors and the shape of the rear lamps.

Compared to its predecessor, the car grew by 10 millimeters in length, but the height decreased by a full 2 centimeters. The overall external proportions thus give the model a more aggressive stance, which can be further enhanced by installing 16" or 17" alloy wheels with an attractive appearance.

Changes also took place in the interior. Comfort is helped by the selection of new softened plastics, as well as the three-spoke, leather-covered steering wheel. Comfort features include a redesigned information system with a touch screen and Bluetooth connectivity. In the Czech regions, the luggage compartment with a volume of 401 liters will certainly please you with good accessibility thanks to the ideal height of the load edge.

One of three four-cylinder hearts can beat under the hood, and we consider the 1.4-liter i-VTEC gasoline unit as the basis. The car's unit provides a power of 73 kW and a torque of 127 Nm. The vision of worse driving dynamics is manifested not only by acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 13.4 seconds, but also by a maximum speed of only 187 km/h. On the other hand, the engine settles for a consumption of just 5.4 l/100 km and the production of CO 2 emissions of 129 g/km.

However, the more powerful 1.8 liter petrol unit looks much more interesting. The i-VTECH four-cylinder produces a very sufficient power of 104 kW and a torque of 174 Nm. These values are then enough to overcome 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds, while the engine claims an average of 5.8 l/100 km and produces 137 grams of CO 2 for every kilometer driven.

Of course, Honda also has a solution for fans of the smell of diesel. The i-DTEC unit with a volume of 2.2 liters will offer an output of 110 kW and reliably push a torque of 350 Nm into the seats. Acceleration to 100 km/h then takes 8.5 seconds, while the speed can further increase to 217 km/h. You will also be pleased with the fuel consumption of 4.2 l/100 km and the feeling that you are driving the fastest yet most economical model in the Civic range.
