Seat shows the rejuvenated Ibiza Cupra

The transition of the Volkswagen Polo GTI from a petrol 14-litre TSI with a DSG automatic to a 18-litre TSI with a manual gearbox surprised many, and even pleased some. Seat is now trying a similar recipe with the three-door Ibiza Cupra .

The larger turbocharged 18 TSI has a power of 192 hp (+ 12 hp compared to the 1.4 TSI) and a torque of 320 Nm (+ 70 Nm), available in the range from 1450 to 4200 rpm. Coupled with the standard six-speed manual and the XDS electronic differential lock, the Spanish hatchback shoots from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds (-0.3 seconds) and reaches a maximum of 235 km/h. Despite the power increase , the average consumption of 6.0 l/100 km has not changed. New in the equipment is the Cupra Drive Profile system, which changes (at the push of a button) the characteristics of the car, including adaptive suspension, which offers a choice between comfort and sport settings.

In terms of this, similar to the modernization of the standard Ibiza, not too much has changed. The front bi-xenon lights received a strip of LED diodes for daytime running lights, the rear lights also use diode technology. The sporty look of the Cupra is supported by black mirror caps, a matte black diffuser and standard 17-inch alloy wheels. The dashboard is oriented towards the driver and brings not only softened plastics and revised ventilation outlets, but above all the latest generation of the Full Link multimedia system with the Mirror Link interface, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, respectively the Drive App and Connect App applications. The three-spoke steering wheel has its origins in the larger Leon, with a redesigned instrument cluster in front of it.
