Renault unveiled the new Kwid model

The segment of small crossovers is currently on the rise, not only in Europe, but also in the markets of third world countries. The French Renault knows this well, which is why it showed (literally) the Kwid pocket model in India yesterday.

Although the name refers to a year-old, and it must be noted, very bold concept , it does not share a single body panel with it. The novelty is based on the CMF-A platform , and is only 3.68 meters long and 1.58 meters wide. This makes the Kwid one of the smallest crossovers on the market. In contrast to the small dimensions, the ground clearance is 180 mm , which is dangerously close to some SUVs two or three segments higher.

The design certainly does not lack originality, on the other hand, it certainly does not offend the end user. Many elements are at least similar to the Romanian Dacia , but there are also lines from the Renault Clio and Captur or the plastic edges of the fenders . The front lights also feature a chrome C, another typical element of the French automaker's current models. The interior of the version in the attached photos has a digital instrument panel, but mainly a seven-inch touch screen of the MediaNAV multimedia system with navigation, radio or Bluetooth interface. ABS will be missing in the equipment for India, the driver's airbag is only available through extra equipment. The press release further promises plenty of room for five passengers and the largest luggage compartment in the class.

Under the hood is a 0.8-liter petrol unit , which probably drives the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The plan is also to install a diesel generator. The Kwid will go on sale in India in the second half of this year at a price between 300,000-400,000 rupees (approx. 115,000-154,000 crowns). And since it is the next global Renault, it is also likely to come to Europe. But it will happen under the Dacia brand, into whose portfolio a similar model fits perfectly.
