Ford introduces the Mustang for the new model year

While sales of the sixth generation Mustang are just getting started in Europe, in the United States the blue oval is already getting a facelift. It's not dramatic at all, but it does bring one retro element and a few new packs.

Fans of all kinds of retro details have been calling for the return of turn signals built into the hood for years. The Mustang first came with this feature in 1967, and although its use is highly debatable, the blue oval comes with it even now. Flashers will be part of the Mustang GT's equipment, but when viewed from the front, you probably won't even recognize this element. New for the entire model range, including the Mustang EcoBoost, is an additional black roof , or "fast" stripes in black or silver. Better connectivity is provided by infotainment SYNC 3 , which will be part of the Premium package.

This brings us smoothly to the premium packages, with two of them (Pony and California Special) looking for inspiration in the sixties. The Pony Package will be available for the Mustang EcoBoost Premium and brings 19-inch gloss wheels, a classic grille badge, a decorative side stripe and chrome side window surrounds. Only those interested in the Mustang GT Premium can specify the California Special Package . It includes 19-inch aluminum wheels, stripes on the hood and sides of the body, a false fuel cap, blacked-out taillights, a unique radiator grille, black mirror caps, a front splitter, an engine compartment spacer with a packet logo, or an interior with an aluminum decor of the dashboard and seats, upholstered a combination of leather and microfiber.

A Black Accent Package with black 19-inch wheels, a black rear spoiler, blacked-out taillights and a black engine badge or grille emblem will be available for all Mustang GTs starting this fall. However, the most welcome change of the new model year will be the inclusion of the Performance Package also in the open Mustang GT offer. As with the coupe, it will offer a larger radiator, modified chassis settings, stronger springs, a body with more struts and braces, a Torsen limited-slip differential, revised power steering settings, ESP and ABS, 19-inch wheels with stickier tires, six-piston Brembo brakes at the front, a more aggressive front splitter or modified instrument panel.
