Skoda will introduce a large SUV at the end of this year

A lot has been written about the large SUV from Mladá Boleslav . There is speculation about the name, engines, platform, number of seats and most recently also about the premiere date. According to Car Advice magazine sources, this should take place before the end of this year, and the general public will see the model with the working name Snowman at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016 .

The coat of the new SUV will be cut according to the latest fashion of a winged arrow – this means not only a unified radiator mask with a cut-out for the car company's logo, but also the typical shape of the strip of LEDs in the main headlights . Group lights should contain a classic "t-shirt". Under the jacket of the five- or seven-seater SUV with a length of around 4.6 meters will be the MQB B platform , which is identical to that of the new Superb. Not only a generous wheelbase, but also the largest luggage compartment in its class will be a matter of course.

The engine compartment will be filled exclusively by TSI and TDI units , in the gasoline branch the top will be the 220-horsepower turbocharged two-liter from the Octavia RS, and the diesel units will be dominated by the 190-horsepower two-liter from the new Superb. The front or all wheels will be driven, according to earlier information, the four-wheeler should get a slightly more "adventurous" appearance and compete with, for example, Land Rover.

Speculation has accompanied the name of the large SUV practically from the beginning. The original Snowman , which all the media is sticking to, will reportedly not be. Amundsen comes to mind, because it is this name that drives test prototypes on the side windows and the lid of the fifth door, camouflaged by the extended body of the Yeti. However, we won't have to wait long for the final answer – the domestic automaker has to show the newcomer in its range before the end of the year (most likely it will be a similar ceremony to the Superb this February), the general public will see it for the first time in Geneva.
