Haval presented a hybrid coupe and SUV

Hybrids of elegant coupes and capable SUVs are mushrooming. The last time Mercedes came out with a similar body type was the pre-production version of the GLC Coupé . The modern trend is already slowly being followed by Chinese car manufacturers, while Haval, the most successful manufacturer in the SUV segment in the local market, is coming with the first purely Chinese coupe-SUV.

According to the automaker, the 4549 mm long, 1835 mm wide and 1700 mm high Haval H6 Coupé scores with its sporty body styling and, thanks to its 2720 mm wheelbase, also its spacious interior . The front part with the hexagonal grille and xenon headlights including daytime running lights fits into the unified style of the automaker. The rear part is dominated by a distinctive diffuser and the car company's name between the group headlights , subtly reminiscent of those on the Audi Q5.

The modern body style continues inside, where the panoramic sunroof creates a "friendly and comfortable atmosphere that makes front passengers feel relaxed." The driver's seat comes with eight-way power adjustment as standard, while the front passenger has to make do with four manually operated directions. The eight- inch TFT touch screen of the multimedia system dominates the center console, which is otherwise surprisingly simple and clear. However, the appearance of the infotainment slightly evokes systems from the models of the Volkswagen concern.

Under the hood is a self-developed two-liter gasoline engine with turbocharging , direct injection and variable valve timing. Maximum power of 197 hp and torque of 315 Nm is transmitted to the front or all wheels using a six-speed manual transmission. The alternative is a six-speed dual-clutch automatic from the renowned company Getrag. In terms of safety assistants, the Chinese automakers are still a little behind the European ones, but it is still nice to see a stabilization system, hill start assistant, hill descent control, brake assistant, automatic parking, blind spot monitoring or electronic parking brake in the Haval's equipment. In addition, a stiffer body and six airbags helped it get five stars in C-NCAP crash tests.
