Baja Drawsko: Martin Macík escaped everyone

In the prestigious competition of three Czech trucks, the newly formed crew of Martin Macík , František Tomášek and Michal Mrkva made an excellent debut. Her result also stands out in a closer examination of the entire Baja Drawsko result sheet, as only two passenger car crews did better.

" On Friday afternoon, we won the seven-kilometer prologue, which was a valuable achievement before the next racing day. We drove on soft sand and it was quite dusty. On Saturday, I initially rode a little more freely because of the virus that attacked me before the start. But I liked the route, the air was flying and the race was quite difficult to navigate. Thanks to that, our new navigator Franta Tomášek went through a good school, " praised Macík.

On Saturday afternoon, Martin took over and gained a lead that exceeded 48 minutes at the finish line on Sunday. " It was probably the best small-scale race we've ever done. We thoroughly tested the car with which we drove the Dakar Rally in January, we tested the new brake and steering modifications. We drove a valuable 350 kilometers on different types of surfaces and we take away a lot of important knowledge. The race was a successful start to the season for us, which will culminate in the next Dakar next year in January ," said the pilot.

During the race, Martin's father, Martin Macík sr., also moved along the track in the accompanying car, and they always consulted the previous kilometers together after taking it to the service station. " Dad watched how the car behaved, how I drove and tried to give me some advice. We also had one hot moment when the wheel bit and we almost went sideways in the sand ruts. It was a crank and with all my might I got the truck back on all four wheels. But even that is a good experience, because such a situation can only occur in a race, " Martin described the dramatic moment. " It was really intense testing ."

In the colors of KM Racing , motorcyclist Lukáš Kvapil also appeared for the first time in the FIA Zona Central Europe Off-Road Rally event, riding the team's Yamaha 450 Dakar special. " He is a professional soldier and a member of Dukla. He did very well for the first time, no one expected third place from him. He will ride with us to other races, his goal is to get to the Dakar Rally one day, " added Macík .
