Mercedes has modernized the SLK roadster

In 1996, with the SLK model, Mercedes began to change the established rules of the two-seater roadster segment thanks to its fixed folding roof. Today, there is already a third generation on the market, which, even thanks to the current facelift, definitely does not run out of breath.

True, at first glance the modernization will probably only be detected by an employee of the car company, because the only change is the installation of LED daytime running lights . The body paint palette was then expanded to include Selenite gray metallic shade and Cerussite Magno design gray. The cabin benefits from a redesigned multimedia system and LTE internet connection, but otherwise don't expect any significant news here either.

Behind them you have to go under the hood, where the new four-cylinder petrol engine with turbocharger appears in the SLK 200 and SLK 300 versions. In the first case, it has 184 hp and 300 Nm, which in combination with the new six-speed manual transmission is enough for a hundred kilometer speed in 6.9 seconds, in the second case (it replaces the SLK 250 model) the engine has 245 hp and 370 Nm, which in combination with a nine-speed with the 9G-Tronic automatic means acceleration to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds.

The same nine-speed automatic is also available in the SLK 250 d diesel version with a modified 2.1-liter four-cylinder engine with 204 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. Thanks to the new transmission and revised engine, the diesel roadster reaches 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds and consumes 4.4 l/100 km, 0.4 l/100 km less than before. This makes the SLK 250 d the most economical roadster in its performance category. The stop/start system is standard on all three new versions, as well as the six-cylinder SLK 350 and SLK 55 AMG, making the roadster compliant with the Euro 6 emission standard .
