Toyota Auris in American form

Last year 's concept was just a harbinger of the inevitable – the originally European and Asian Toyota Auris is heading overseas, in addition to the logo of the young driver-oriented automaker Scion . The question remains whether it will make its mark in the busy lower-middle class segment.

Similar to the case of the iA sedan, even the iM hatchback Scion did not bet on any significant changes in appearance . Thanks to the recent facelift of the Auris, the Americans will also get a narrower radiator grille, here in a glossy black design, a new shape of the main headlights with LED daytime running lights and LED taillights. The standard will be 17-inch alloy wheels with 225/45 R17 tires, for which it will be possible to choose one of six body colors.

The cabin is dominated by a seven-inch touchscreen multimedia system with a Pioneer radio (6 speakers) and an image from the standard reversing camera. A smaller 4.2-inch TFT display is located between the alarm clocks and provides the driver with information about the vehicle's operating status, for example. Other equipment features include eight airbags , automatic two-zone air conditioning or a leather multifunction steering wheel.

Under the hood is a 139-horsepower 18 -liter gasoline engine, which is transmitted to the front wheels by a six-speed manual transmission or a CVTi-S automatic transmission with the option of manually shifting seven preset steps. The chassis has rear double wishbones and components from the tC coupe. The steering should be more communicative thanks to the electronic booster.

Scion has not yet published the exact price, but it starts at under 20,000 dollars (approx. 505,000 crowns). If someone wants to improve the appearance of the iM, the automaker will offer a set of graphic stickers, different interior lighting or elements from the TRD program, such as a lowered chassis and better air intake. Among the more common elements, we can mention navigation or more durable carpets.
