The history of the Skoda 935

While Tatra was celebrating success with the aerodynamic type 77 , in Boleslav they also decided to claim a few sold units and developed the competing type 935 in 1935. The latter followed the 932 and 932 Tudor prototypes. Unlike the Tatra, however, the Skoda had a water-cooled boxer in front of the front axle and an electromechanical gearbox from Cotal .

It is interesting that the Skoda 935 was more advanced than the Tatra 77. However, only one (according to other sources two) prototype was created. Skoda also had independent wheel suspension with pendulum semi-axles , hydraulic brakes and an aerodynamic body. It had a classic wooden frame. The car was also well balanced , with the radiator and tank at the front, while only the gearbox was located behind the rear axle. The two-liter OHV boxer engine was in front of the rear axle. It had an output of 40.5 kW and provided the car with an ideally placed low center of gravity.

The only specimen is now in the renovation stage and the automaker is trying to restore it to its original condition.
